Tenet Unveils QCF Level 6 Financial Planner Option As Alternative To QCF Level 4

Tenet Group has announced a new route for QCF4 qualification - and beyond

Tenet Group has announced a new route for QCF4 qualification - and beyond - ahead of the RDR implementation in January 2013.

Created in conjunction with the Institute of Financial Planning, it offers numerous advantages to advisers who already hold partial qualifications towards diploma - including not having to sit a formal exam.

Instead, Tenet's 'Certified Financial Planner' route gives advisers the opportunity to achieve the required professional qualifications by attending two structured training days hosted by a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) professional and completing a financial case study over a 12-week period.

In order to be eligible, candidates will need to hold specific examinations in tax (either JO1, G10 or AF1), plus a further advanced subject. And because Tenet is an accredited training centre, it can offer a discount of up to 60 per cent on training and assessment fees.

In addition, the programme is the equivalent of a QCF level six qualification and carries exemption from the CII AF5 paper, which is the compulsory module for Chartered Financial Planner status.

We are confident this new Certified Financial Planner option will appeal greatly to advisers who have the pre-qualification requirements, but do not wish to have to sit further examinations,” explained distribution & development director, Keith Richards.

The first course commences in June with an initial training day, conducted at our own training centre in Leeds. Whilst priority will be given to Tenet advisers, the programme is also available to non-Tenet firms.

Up until now this route has been one of the best-kept secrets in the industry,” he asserted, “so we expect it to prove exceptionally popular.

Nick Cann, chief executive of the IFP added “It is great news that Tenet has embraced the benefits of the CFP certification programme. The main benefit is the fact that it recognises existing knowledge, but tests the application of this knowledge with clients.

For many, this learning has formed the bedrock of their client proposition and will be hugely-powerful post-RDR. It is significant that Tenet’s training & development manager, Neil Price, has gone through the process himself and appreciates the huge value attached to the programme.

Richards concluded: “Tenet is also set to launch an innovative ‘first year foundation degree’, in partnership with Leeds City College. The aim is to facilitate an effective entry route for new entrants to the advice sector and is structured in a way which will allow them to give advice after initial qualification.
