Tenet rings in the New Year with two key appointments
Issued: 13 January 2012
Tenet welcomes a new head of regulatory policy and head of training to the team.
Adviser support group Tenet has announced two key appointments for the New Year, with a new head of regulatory policy and head of training joining the team in January.
Simon Thomas joins Tenet as head of regulatory policy from the Lloyds Banking Group where as regulatory developments manager within the UK Wealth Division he gained senior experience in the regulatory affairs not only of the bank, but of the Halifax Group.
In his new role, Simon will be responsible for the formulation of policy for all Tenet’s regulated businesses as well as ensuring there is an effective helpdesk for clients. In addition he will be overseeing the compliance audit activities and dispute resolution team.
He comments: “I am proud of the group’s good regulatory position and hope to build upon this. The major challenge at the moment is of course to help our clients complete their RDR business transformation and deliver sound, business-focused guidance to them to ensure compliance.
“We need to recognise that the regulatory environment is still going through a period of significant change and firms need to adapt to this as well. Delivering fair outcomes to customers and managing conduct risk has to be part of advisory firms’ DNA and this will be foremost in my mind.”
Tenet also welcomes David Pearce as head of training, with responsibility for the group training function and playing a key role in the delivery of the group’s overall adviser development programme.
David has broad and extensive financial services experience of adviser training and development, more recently working with IFAs for Friends Life and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Speaking about his new role he said: “The demand for qualification, training and the delivery of an effective continued professional development programme for our client firms will intensify during 2012. Therefore, the need to increase and continually evolve our support in these areas is crucial.”
Commenting on the moves, Tenet distribution & development director, Keith Richards, concluded: “These appointments further enhance Tenet’s support for both AR and DA clients and form another important part of our on-going transformation programme.”
